2021 3th Changwon International Democracy Film Festival
'Rhizome: Nomade, Trans, Cosmopolite'

국화꽃 향기 가득한 가을에 제3회 창원국제민주영화제를 개최합니다. 
  이 영화제는 창원국제민주영화제 조직위원회와 함께 저희 기념사업회가 공동으로 주최해왔습니다. 작년 제2회 때는 코로나 팬데믹 사태로 인해 축소 개최되면서 공동주최자로 참여하지 못하는 안타까움이 있었습니다. 금년에도 여전히 팬데믹 사태가 완전히 진정되지는 않았지만 위드 코로나의 시행을 앞두고 예방수칙을 잘 지키면서 영화제를 열고자 합니다.
  이번 영화제의 전체 주제는 현대 세계의 특징을 잘 드러내는 “리좀: 노마드, 트랜스, 코스모폴리트”로 선정되었고, 다양한 행사 프로그램을 통해 오늘날 민주주의라는 가치가 어떤 새로운 면모를 보여주는지를 살펴봅니다. 
  특히 프랑스 거장 감독인 아녜스 바르다의 회고전은 저희 기념사업회가 주도적으로 참가한 프로그램입니다. 민주주의를 바탕으로 한 행동과 사유가 현실과 욕망의 뒤엉킴을 통해 세상과 삶의 잠재된 형태들을 변주하는 지를 생각하게 만드는 시간이 될 것입니다. 
  부마민주항쟁기념사업회는 항쟁 정신을 계승하여 민주주의의 아름다운 역사를 창원시민과 함께 그 가치를 키워나가고자 노력하고 있습니다. 많은 시민들이 영화를 관람하면서 코로나 전염병의 고통을 잠시나마 잊으시고 다양하게 전개ㆍ발전하는 민주주의의 가치를 음미하시길 바랍니다. 
  이 영화제를 위해 많은 도움을 주신 창원시와 행사를 준비하느라 수고하신 모든 분들에게 감사 인사를 전합니다.

the 3rd Changwon International Democratic Film Festival(CIDFF) will be held in autumn filled with the fragrance of chrysanthemums.
  This film festival has been co-hosted by the CIDFF Organizing Committee and our Commemorative Association. Last year, the 2nd edition was held down due to the corona pandemic, so I regretted not being able to participate as a co-host. Even this year, the pandemic has not yet completely subsided, but ahead of the implementation of “With Corona” campaign, we are going to open a film festival while following the sanitary precautions.
  The overall theme of this year's film festival was selected as "Rhizome: Nomad, Trans, Cosmopolite", which reveals the characteristics of the modern world, and through various event programs, we examine new aspects of the value of democracy today.
  In particular, the retrospective exhibition of the French master director Agnès Varda is a program led by our Commemorative Aassociation. It will be a time to think about whether actions and thoughts based on democracy change the latent forms of the world and life through the entanglement of reality and desire.
  The Commemoratve Association for Buma Democratic Uprising is striving to develop the value of the beautiful history of democracy with the citizens of Changwon by inheriting the spirit of protest. I hope that many citizens will forget the pain of the corona epidemic for a moment while watching the movie and savor how the value of democracy unfolds and develops in various ways.
  I would like to express my gratitude to the city of Changwon for their great help for this film festival and to all those who worked hard to prepare the event.
